Hello everyone,
Happy to be here again with all of you. Happy I got the energy to start this very simple newsletter this year. Most of the material I share with you guys was limited to my inner circle but it’s now open to everyone - yes, I know, we are still very few people but hey, it’s just the beginning.
Today I will share Steve Job’s branding Masterclass, Simon Sinek’s WHY, and much more… let’s roll.
“Excelent firms don’t believe in excellence, only in constant improvement and constant change”. - Tom Peters
Branding Masterclass
Steve Jobs and Apple’s Marketing
The video is worth watching for a few reasons. First, it’s unpolished. J Second, he’s addressing Apple employees, not the world. It’s a behind-the-scenes video from before Apple’s resurgence, which is very cool to see. And finally, it’s completely on-topic for your Brand Sprint. This is the moment where Jobs explains Apple’s why and its importance to their products, advertising, and sales. Today — 20 years later! — the why is still relevant.
Simon Sinek - Power of Why
Sinek’s premise is basically this: You need to know why you’re in business — and talk about it. When a company has a strong motivation and that motivation shines through, customers buy the product. It’s easy to find supporting examples. Sinek points to Apple, but companies like Nike, Patagonia, Airbnb, and LEGO obviously fit the bill.

Are you familiar with Google’s Design Sprint process?
The sprint is a five-day process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers. Developed at Google Ventures, it’s a “greatest hits” of business strategy, innovation, behavior science, design thinking, and more—packaged into a battle-tested process that any team can use.
I super recommend the book but you can go ahead and explore their website which is full of content and it provides a good understanding of the process.
My Startup Growth Collection
I’m now addicted - in a good way - to Readocracy’s collection feature. It allows me to save all the amazing content I consume + I can write notes and highlight what I consider to be important. I can continue to go back to my collection and have it all organized in a simple and efficient way. The platform is still in private beta but I can hook up with an invitation if you want. Drop me a DM and I will take care of you.
My latest collection here
Ladies and gentlemen,
Thanks for being part of this experiment and for all the feedback and insights I have received.
Looking forward to all the great content we will explore - 2022 will be a great year.
Thanks,
Daniel Silva
