Hello everyone,
Happy Friday. I hope this finds you safe, sound, and living a good life.
Last time I was here I wrote about Abilio - my AI experiment - and I failed to keep up the pace and keep writing and sharing ideas, insights, and cool information with you all. Today I'm going through my notes and bringing you the top 10 best content I've highlighted over the last few weeks - it's like resetting the pace.
BTW, do you know how I collect and organize most of the content I share here?
I have a Whatsapp group with myself and every time I read or find something I want to explore, I send the link to myself and eventually I get to work on it.
Let’s get going… (they are not in any specific order so please assume they are all high quality pieces).
#01 - Hard Work DOESN’T Equal Success
I love this one.
#02 - Eric Schmidt and AI Revolution
#03 - Use Your Brain for Peak Performance
I watched this episode in one sitting! Well, I'm a huge Marc Cavendish fan (he just broke the Tour de France record for most wins + he's a character) and this chat taught me so much about how your mind can guide and lead you to feel better and consequently perform at your best.
He came up with the idea of happy watts (watts being related to the power you generate on a bike) and I loved it. Every time I go for a long ride now, I try to put my mind in a good frame of mind - grateful for the opportunity to ride, grateful for the weather, the sun, and more. I have found that I enjoy the training session more and my numbers have improved. Happy Watts everyone!!!
#04 - Improve Your Mindset
Bandwagon from #3 I have Dr Huberman and Dr Kazi talking about how to improve your mindset and lead a better life. Ever since I first read Carol Dweck's book; Mindset, I have started to pay attention to how I can improve my thoughts and have a more positive view of the challenges I face - both internal and external. I believe that when you improve your mindset, you create a positive wave of feelings and emotions that affect your whole being.
I don't think any one book or podcast is going to change anyone, but it's definitely a great way to start the exploration and journey to becoming a better you.
#05 - Notion Co-Founder (Must Watch)
I think I ran 16km while listening to this one on the treadmill. (Happy Watts - for more listen to #03)
I love Harry and he is such a great host. Sharp questions - no BS. And in this episode he got Akshai, co-founder of our beloved Notion (more on Notion later).
I sent this to 13 founders I work with and got very positive feedback - some of them are already implementing some of the ideas and processes Akshai shared in this pod.
My highlights:
09:35 - Notion values
20:50 - Three ways to increase your market value
25:50 - Experimenting and learning
Bonus session: If you are a founder looking to raise money (or have already done so), you will hear how Notion raised money from the world's top VCs. Warning: they played a different game - it's a great story.
#06 - Tim Ferris & Boyd Varty - Tracking Lions in wild Africa
This is a special one. I got an early email from Maex (👇🏿) and without much research I dug in.
I rode my bike for two hours listening to this episode and I still remember details of it vividly. I often say that with the speed of life nowadays some people will fully embrace it and just go for the ride and on the opposite side of this will be people going back to nature and reconnecting with it and with themselves. This episode has been a confirmation that my thinking is somewhere right and that reconnecting with nature is the right way forward for me - it's my ultimate prize on this journey.
Life is simple, but we are too busy chasing the noise.
“Where your attention goes, your life goes.”
If you are wondering what life is all about, I highly recommend this pod.
My favorite part is around 1:50 - how to evolve in life. Enjoy it.
#07 - Best AI person on Linkedin
I think Armand Ruiz is the guy to follow on Linkedin and stay up to date with AI things going around.
From his linkedin bio: As the Director of AI Engineering at IBM, I lead the watsonx team, a global group of over 1,000 AI Engineers who work on cutting-edge Generative AI solutions for various industries.
Love this one post.
#08 - Notion + AI
We Love Notion and it keeps getting better.
My goal for Q4 is to become more productive and I will build my entire performance system with Notion as the backbone and add various tools and frameworks to hack my productivity. It's a long time coming - I need to find a way to build up my work cadence and be more consistent on a regular basis. Too much to do in too little time. Let's get on with it!
#09 - Best from the Web
👉🏽 NFX - The Verticalization of Everything
👉🏽 First Round Review - The Not So Cookie-Cutter Approach to Company Building — 8 Lessons from Zapier
👉🏽 Reforge - How to Monetize AI
👉🏽 Bessemer Venture - The Future of AI is Vertical
👉🏽 One PDF and 30 seconds. 😲😲 That's how long it took Google's AI tool, NotebookLM, to summarize my entire book into an engaging discussion between two people - all thanks to a new conversation feature that launched last week. No prompts. No direction. I just let the tool run with the content. And, as you can see from the output, it's amazing. 🤩
#10 - Latin America Digital Report
Every year Atlantico, a venture capital firm led by Julio Vasconcellos - I think he was Facebook's #1 employee in Brazil, but he became famous for founding Peixe Urbano, a Brazilian version of Groupon - publishes a Latin America Digital Report, and this year's edition was all over my LinkedIn feed for a few days.
I highly recommend exploring this vast material to better understand the opportunities in the region.
